How to Use Facebook Ads to Target More Local Customers

Facebook ads are a great way to reach local consumers in your area in a quick, easy and cost-effective manner. Their ability to target ads directly to consumers based on specified location is absolutely invaluable.

So, how do these ads work, and how can you use them to target local customers? Just follow these simple steps:      

  • Choose your ad – The type of ad that you choose should be based upon your advertising objective or goals. You can set Facebook ads to target any type of audience, including local. There are already four predesigned ads specifically geared to reach local markets, so all you have to do is select your desired geographic region based on your target audience. You can set options to target age, gender and location.
  • Set location targeting – Your target location selection will depend upon which type of Facebook ad you choose, but you can be as broad or specific as you see necessary. Your target area can reach an entire country or a local postal address. You can also target a single location as well as multiple locations.     
  • Refine targeting – Take your selected targeting one step further, beyond location, and set ads to reach people near your business based on age and gender. If this is your goal, you’ll want to keep these demographics in mind when selecting the type of ad. Then you can dig even deeper and target specific levels of education, income, interests, political beliefs or even behaviors.   

In order to build and maintain a thriving business, you have to tap into your local customer base by advertising to those customers who are already within reach. Facebook ads are a great way to generate leads from this easy-to-access audience and boost promotions, which, in turn, will also give your revenue a boost.
