Developing a Social Media Marketing Strategy

Learning and understanding how to develop a strategic, social media marketing plan is a process.  It’s kind of like learning how to ride a bike.  The task may seem like a scary and daunting thing to jump into, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll never look back.  After all, the saying, “It’s like riding a bike,” didn’t just stick because it proved to be an impossible task; we use the saying because once you make the decision to try, progress will just flow. 

Like riding a bike, once you start the process of understanding social media marketing, you will gain momentum and learn to keep your balance as you juggle between activities and social networks.  It might seem overwhelming at first, but it gets easier with practice, and eventually, you’ll learn to enjoy the ride. 

Strategic social media marketing takes excellent planning and is serious business.  But, that doesn’t mean that it can’t be fun too.  Once you’ve learned how to ride without the training wheels, the fun you’ll have on your excursions will be well worth the effort, allowing a certain freedom.  The same goes for how you progress in your understanding and development of social media marketing; your journey along the way will be fun and well worth the effort, as it is completely different from traditional marketing. 

When you get it right, you’ll feel a real sense of joy, accomplishment and success.  Whether you’re learning how to leverage Facebook marketing, Twitter, YouTube or GooglePlus, just taking the plunge and getting started is your biggest hurdle.  Every accomplishment starts with the simple decision to try.
