How to attract more traffic and followers

A member of one of my online groups asked this question the other day:

"We've got a LinkedIn page for the company, but we don't have many followers - any quick tips for getting more eyes on our profile?"

I hear this same question all the time! I thought I'd share my response here with you in case any of you are struggling with the same issue.

Here's what I told that reader and the same thing applies to pretty much ANY business these days:

"Create meaningful, engaging content that provides practical advice for your target audience. This is called inbound marketing and it can include everything from simple tips, tricks and lists (i.e. blog or social posts such as Top 10 Widgets in the ABC Industry) to content "offers" (giveaways) such as checklists, ebooks, guides, white papers, webinars, etc.
Aim to educate and inform (not sell), and people will start coming to you. If it's valuable information, people will share it or like it, and then their audience will see it as well. Try to put yourself in your prospect's shoes and think about what problems they are facing, then provide SOLUTIONS to those problems.
Remember that social media is like a cocktail party...you want to ask the other person questions or provide valuable advice to them 80-90% of the time and only talk about yourself (or your products/services) 10-20% of the time. Transform your message online and offline to that of a trusted advisor and partner instead of a salesperson, and the leads will come to you!"

Another important point is that you don't want to just attract "more eyes to your profile"...you want to attract the RIGHT eyes! Inbound marketing ensures that you are providing the RIGHT content to the RIGHT people at the RIGHT time. That's why it's so effective!

So what say you? Are you struggling to get traffic to your web site or social channels OR have you seen great results with inbound marketing? Let us know!
