Facebook Page Design Changes:  What Businesses Can Expect

Written by Marissa Kasarov | Oct 10, 2016 2:28:44 AM

Facebook is in the process of rolling out new design changes for business pages.  So, the question on every marketer’s mind - what’s going to change? Let’s take a look at some of these layout changes that you and your business can prepare for and make sure that you’re ready for Facebook’s new age:

  • Cover Photos – Facebook is reducing the width of the header image so that you can design without worrying about overlap. With the old version, cover photos got covered up with overlap from profile photos, page names, usernames, Like buttons, Message buttons, call-to-action buttons, etc. This new design ensures that doesn’t happen, stretching across the entire top of the page so that your photo can be seen in its fullest.
  • Call-to-Action Buttons – If your page didn’t have a call-to-action button before, now’s the time to add one. The new design allows for a bright, bold, new call-to-action button that immediately draws the eye so that more visitors will feel the need to click. This button is also compatible with mobile devices.
  • Tab Content – Now that Facebook tabs are more prominent, stationary, and laid out on the left sidebar, you’ll want to make sure that all of your tabs contain content, as visitors will be more likely to click on them.
  • Add Tabs – If you want to add custom tabs, you can now do so and feature them on full display in the left sidebar. Before, any additions were hidden under the ‘More’ tab making them un-viewable unless visitors clicked through. Now, all tabs stay in place, even as visitors scroll up and down your page. Any and all information is just one click away.

With all of these new Facebook design changes, not much will change as far as your marketing strategy. But, you may find that with all of these new features, and a number of others that we didn’t mention, like Notes and Live video, you’ll have more opportunity to engage with your audience. Experiment with these latest designs, and find out what your target audience best responds to.
